Tate Gallery Eurovision LGBT Event

[Semester 2] Exploring Collaborative Practice

Late at the Tate Gallery Event

Green room:

The Left image shows the fish tank animation on a laptop. The Right image shows the third part of
the group finalising some bird boxes, which had holes on the front. They were placed on the pillars
at the entrance, so that the public could look through them and see some static scenes that had
been made using different themes (Reggae Concert, Drunken Night, and LGBT Equal Rights Protest).

These images show the setting up stage for the animation and I did help with some physical support moving items to where they needed to be and I also taped the records in place while decisions were made if the placing of them was correct, or if they needed to be moved slightly.

The first screens were not working due to technical issues, so these are the reserves screens at the testing stage. In the end, someone else needed these screens so the animation was projected on to the wall, which I think improved it due to the increased scale.

Projection Mapping:

Before Event:

Beginning of Event:

Near the End of Event:

After the projection mapping group set themselves up, the stand using an easel was brought into the foyer and this was projected individual animations onto using a HD projector. A lot of the public seemed to like it as they took lots of photos of it. The animations were changed throughout the event, over the period it was set up for.

3D fish tank

Each animated fish was different by having the colours that represented different countries and
different identities, such as LGBT. I think the projection scale of it makes it even more impressive
than I imagined.

The images above show the animations projected on to the wall and these were the high resolution
versions.

Bird Boxes:

These had different themes, such as a bar scene from a night out, an LGBT protest and also a punk rock scene. In each scene the colours changed and this gave them a greater atmosphere than if the colours had remained the same.

Fashion Degree Students Catwalk Show:

Beginning of the Event:

Near the End of Event:

The fashion students’ show took place at the same day as the animation and ran all day. I enjoyed watching this and it gave me another perspective on design.
