Tues 6th Oct 2020:
So today (week 2) as a class we had to come up with various ideas each person wanted to do as a writer's room. The ideas that came to mind for me had to compliment my skillset, I chose:
- A 3D animated mermaid underwater scene.
- Superheroes that get their powers from a wearable material and if they take it of they won't have powers.
- Something to do with ghosts.
But as my ideas weren't fully developed I also suggested what skills I could also provide to a group:
- I'm good at modelling stop-motion armatures to help with a groups production,
- Animating people's 3D rig (Still learning how to model and rig a character in Maya)
During this lecture we collected some initial ideas for projects and animations we wanted to create. We added all our ideas to the online Discussion thread to capture our thoughts and suggestions.
Next Blog - Preparing to Pitch
Look at the next blog post to see how I developed my ideas...
The lecturer heard that one of the students ideas was about farming on an alien planet and reminding her about a Sci-Fi film made in 1972 called Silent Running. It has 3 robots where the last tree and green matter on Earth because it's actually a dystopian future and it's all climate change. So in the movie they fly these spaceship off into space and the robots look after the last plants and stuff before they can bring them back to Earth. It's a really sad movie, you get really sad as one of the robots in the movie gets damaged and you really feel for the little robot.
The film is a lot like Pixar's Wall-E as that film rips of this movie, in fact the robots look a lot like Wall-E and even he gets badly damaged by electrocution. Exactly the same plot of as the Wall-E movie just with a few little changes.
We dipped our feet into looking at pitch bible for a brief minute to see how we could set it out for our Mini Pitch presentation on Tues 20th Oct 2020 to pitch our ideas or skills to the rest of the class and some students in other subjects like Music & Graphic Design. Next week, we will go deeper into the pitching bible topic by diving into the deep end.
